My silliest boy was playing downstairs Sunday October 1st 2016, when he fell off one of the kid chairs (that was broken) and fell on the floor. We aren't sure exactly what he hit it on, or if he just hit the floor just right, but He sure had a good cut. I know it's not a big deal, but in a way it is!
It's his FIRST stitches! That's a huge kid right of passage! haha! I'm super surprised that it hasn't happened sooner.
I was upstairs folding clothes and watching a show, Lucas was out in the garage finishing his airplane, when I heard a huge crash and a cry that I've NEVER heard James express!
I've never jumped up off the couch so quickly in whole life. I FLEW down the stairs as if I was Usain Bolt. HA!
He is laying face down with blood all over the floor! It scared me and I was freaking out, but I stayed cooloer than I thought I would. THANK GOODNESS Lucas was home that Saturday night. THANK GOODNESS! I wouldn't have had a car and I wouldn't have been able to calm him down the way Lucas did. He's so calming to the kids.
Anyway, I walked James up the stairs and Lucas met us at the top and I said quietly, " I think he needs stitches." because I didn't want to scare him. Lucas agreed and we got ready to go.
It's not the blood that got me, I just hate seeing James so upset and I wanted to get him to the doctor immediately so it didn't get infected or anything so I was a bit frazzled trying to get out the door.
He
fast forward to November 5th
Lily and James were playing in the bath tub and I hear miss Bea crying so I go right in and by the time I got there, she stopped so I didn't think much of it at all. a minute later I decide to get them out and realize she has blood on the back of her head! James said he accidentally pushed her and she hit her head on the faucet! She hardly cried at all so i didn't worry about it when it happened! So I get them out and all fixed up and it just keeps bleeding. not gushing, but it was a gapping and not letting up. coincidently enough Lucas called to tell me that his break got all moved around because of daylight savings time and that he wouldn't be available to talk till 10! at this point I was still not too worried. I thought that it would stop soon. So I told him about it and he said to keep him updated and that he would come home!
Well, 2.5 hours passed along with their bedtime and I decided to call my mom and ask her. She said to keep pressure on it and that head wounds do bleed more than normal. I continued to do that but I still just didn't feel right about it. I didn't want to put her to bed and have her wake up in a buch of blood if it didn't led up during the night. Soooo, I then tried to call lucas at work but I forgot the extension to get a hold of him in the fab. SO to make triple sure, I texted my mother in law who is an EMT and she happened to be playing with her band so she called me back a bit later and at this point it had been 3 hours after the incident and it was still bleeding and gapeing. So she said she might need a staple or we could try tying her hair but I just really felt like we needed to go to the doc. Lucas must have known something wasn't right because he texted me and said, I'm taking my break a bit early and was home and we decided to go in to the ER. So I woke up James because we both really wanted to be there.
It was about 10:20 when we left for the hospital and I felt like we waited forever and a day for these doctors. The first doc that came in said he has 4 boys and he wouldn't have even come in. He said he would have just bandaged it up and that she would have been fine, just a little sore in the morning. So we decided to bandage her up and then got ready to leave THEN about 20 minutes later while we are waiting for the paper work to come, apparently "The Real" doctor came in (Shift change) and said, No NO, she needs a staple. So at this point it was like 11:45 and we were all exhausted and a little annoyed that we've been waiting but he said It would really be better if we got it stapled because then we wont have to worry about her ripping it open more. WHICH WAS THE WHOLE POINT WE CAME IN. So that fist doctor just wanted to go home. GRR.
( I didn't get the best pic cause I was shaking)
(This was literally 2 minutes after the staple. She was dancing!)
I'm so thankful for that second doctor. He was very nice and got it done and had wonderful bedside manor. Anyways, LONGEST STORY, not short, The shot was what hurt the most, if you can even imagine getting it on the back of your skull so she cried for only about 10 second and it was instant numbing. Then he just took the little staple gun and did it, as if she just got her ears pierced but bea didn't even twitch when he did it. He said she was one of the best 3 year olds he'd ever seen. Lily really is the most fierce, Brave little girl. I'm so proud of my kids handling these BIG bumps and bruises so easily. It makes me feel good as a parent that I'm raising strong, capable children.
SO, after all that we FINALLY got to head home and it was 12:30 when we got home. 4.5 hours passed their bedtime! They were out within 10 minutes of heads hitting their pillows. Good thing too, because That's pretty late for this momma to stay up as well. And weirdly enough, the staple in Lily's head really made me queasy I looked at it and almost passed out. I think it was a number of things, Mom worry, Pregnancy, I'd been up for almost 20 hours and I was exhausted and baby boy was moving like crazy!
I'm so thankful for Lucas. He is honestly the best husband/father. He is my rock. He really just baffles me. He had been up for so long with having to work the night before and then had to go back to work after all that AND on the time change. So he was actually there an hour more than normal not to mention they were short staffed. He's honestly the best and I love him so much for doing so much for us and NEVER complaining about it.
